Conference 2000 Check-In Information

Check-in Information and Notes

  • Date & Time:
Registration and check in will start on Friday June 16 at 12:00 and will last until 21:00. If you cannot arrive before 21:00 on June 16, please inform us in advance of your time of arrival so that we can wait for you at convenient time for you. If you arrive on June 17, please see below, Late Registration.

  • Location:
The registration desk will be situated in Perkins Hall (see map), where the dormitory is. You will find a notice outside the building indicating the direction to follow. The desk will be in the basement.

  • Dormitory and registration desk address:
Perkins Hall, 35 Oxford Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02138

  • Keys / Linens / Blankets:
You can pick your room keys, a set of linens and blankets when you check in. Perkins Hall regulations impose everyone to make a key deposit of $10. It is absolutely necessary that you have it ready in cash when you arrive. The deposit will be given to you upon departure by Ms Michelle Hsieh. Please look for her in the conference before you leave.

  • Rooms:
All rooms are single rooms; bathrooms are shared. Female and male bathrooms are separated. There is no telephone in the rooms, but there are two pay phones in Perkins Hall. In case you need to be reached in emergency, your relatives can call our local manager and leave a message on an emergency voice mail box (see below).

  • Welcoming Reception:
A small party will welcome you on June at 20:00. We will wait for you in Conant Building, which stands just opposite to Perkins Hall. This meeting party is intended to help new comers know each other and regular participants to get to know new ones. Thus, it would be great if everyone could put on the name tag that will be given to you upon registration. Thanks for
    remembering this.

  • Late Registration:
If you cannot arrive on June 16, please go directly to the Conference site at Yenching Auditorium (see below). You will find there a NATSA member at the entrance of each Conference room. We will look for someone to accompany you to Perkins Hall. Please contact us before leaving for Boston to inform us of you estimated arrival time.

  • Conference Rooms:
The three-day-conference will be held at Yenching Auditorium (for opening ceremony and round table discussion) and Coolidge Hall, Seminar Room no 2 and 3 (for panel discussions). It is about 6-7 minutes walk from Perkins Hall, just what is needed to take fresh air before
the conference starts at 9:00 on June 17. A map is attached to this email. Normally, you should not get lost; if you do, try to find your way before lunch is finished.

  • Campus Map:
You can also download a map of Harvard University by visiting

  • Meals:
To get your lunch boxes, you need to have your name tag on you (Usually, after one day or two, participants do not bring their name tag anymore. Please keep putting it on so that we identify each other more easily).
